Runtime: 4:00 Logline: I was never trying to beat you. That would've ruined the fun. Cast: Dzino. Rex — energetic dog athlete, sweatband, training shorts, perpetually mid-stretch. Location: Crystalline dunes glittering under three differently-colored moons (warm pink, ice blue, gold). Shard: Body (Body).

Scene 8.1 — The dunes [00:00 – 00:30]

DZINO crests a low dune and stops. The horizon is dunes all the way out. Three moons hang at different heights. Sand glints in voxels — each grain visible.

Sound. Soft drum-kit pulse beginning, faint. AI prompt. Wide hero: voxel character on dune crest, three differently-colored moons (pink/blue/gold), glittering voxel sand.

Scene 8.2 — Rex [00:30 – 01:30]

REX is doing crunches at the base of the next dune, counting aloud.

He springs to his feet without a beat of effort. Stretches one arm across his chest.

REX "Race me to that ridge."

He points. The ridge is far. DZINO looks at it, then back at REX. He's never raced. He doesn't even know how to run quickly.

REX (grinning) "I didn't either. That's the whole thing."

DZINO tries to run. Falls into the sand, face-first. REX laughs, NEVER MOCKING — turns it into part of the rhythm. Helps him up. They start again.

REX picks up two voxel sandboards from a half-buried stash. Hands one to DZINO. They drop down a steep dune. DZINO tumbles. REX zigzags. They reach the bottom.

DZINO climbs back up. Tries again. Less wobbling. Gets halfway. Tumbles. REX cheers from the bottom.

DZINO tries a third time. He finds rhythm. It is small but real. He carves a clean voxel-arc down the dune — three turns, no fall. He is breathing hard at the bottom. He is alive in his body for the first time.

REX whoops, both fists in the air.

They climb together to the agreed ridge. From here the faint star is the brightest thing in the night sky — closer than ever.

Sound. Drum machine throughout, building. Each rhythm-find adds a percussion layer to Dzino's chord. The seventh voice — Voice 7 — arrives at the third successful turn. It is a heartbeat thud. AI prompts.

He sprints back the way they came — full speed, gone in seconds. DZINO sits on the ridge alone. Just breathing. He puts a hand on his chest. The seventh voice — the heartbeat — is there, his own, steady.
